Over the past few years the Pit has consistently had young teenage women among the top performers on the team. In 2025 another young lady entered the gym and asked about powerlifting. Addie is a competitive cheerleader, very quiet and shy, and wanted to try out powerlifting as her older brother has been a member of the gym for several years.
Few lifters ever have the kind of year that 15 year old Addie Fugate is having. After winning the 2025 ADFPF National Championship and being named best lifter at age 14, she entered the USAPL Raw Nationals in Chicago (total number of lifters ~1500) where she won in convincing style and then one week later she lifted in the 2026 ADFPF Nationals where she broke the dead lift and total WDFPF world records for her division. Addie's most recent performance (at age 15 now) saw her Squat 242lbs, bench press 154 lbs and deadlift an unbelievable 325lbs! After the last meet, Addie simply said "I found what I like to do!"
Over the past five days of competition at USAPL’s national championship, The Pit picked up five medals in seven classes, but no gold. That all changed when Addie Fugate took the platform. She finished squats with a substantial lead and just added to it throughout the evening. She finished with a 722 total and a well-earned gold medal!!
