Left to Right: Addie Fugate, Mike Stagg, Jayne Tang, Molly Angel, Jack Angel, Bob Edgin, Josh Wilson, and Caden Gordon
The Pit sent eight lifters to the 2025 ADFPF Full Power Nationals in Macomb, IL (Western Illinois University) with outstanding results. The Pit lifters won the Best Lifter Awards for Female Teen/Junior (Addie Fugate), Male Teen (Josh Wilson) and Male Master + Open (Mike Stagg).
Jack Angel (60kg): This was Jack’s first meet. Jack is a very intense competitor and puts high expectations on himself. He won his age/weight division and tried to pull a new Pit board record of 385lbs at 130lb bodyweight. Jack finished his first meet with a 237lb Squat, 154lb bench press and 353lb deadlift. Jack would have had a better deadlift if he had not jumped so high to try to break the gym record as his 353lb lift moved almost as well as his opening lift.
Molly Angel (63kg): Molly won the 63kg division. She had all personal best lifts of: Squat 154lbs, Bench 99lbs and Deadlift of 236lbs. All of Molly’s lifts broke the Indiana Master records for her class.
Josh Wilson (75kg): This was Josh’s first meet since winning best lifter at the USPA nationals. He followed up with another National best lifter award at this meet. Josh moved up a class and said his goal was to outpull his coach (and he did). Josh squatted 353lbs, bench pressed 231lbs and deadlifted 473lbs. He had a 501lb deadlift about 2 inches from lockout. Josh is only 15 years-old, so the sky is the limit for this young man. Josh smashed (and yes…this is the right term) the existing American records for his class.
Mike Stagg (75kg): Mike decided to enter the meet last minute as sort of a challenge from Josh. After walking up and down stairs for about 45 minutes in the heat to drop 1lb before weigh-ins closed, Mike did manage to set new National Meet Records in Squat (353lbs), Bench Press (314lbs) and total (1129lbs). Mike was also named best male lifter (Master).
Addie Fugate (90kg): This was 14 yr-old Addie’s first meet. She is definitely a “platform lifter" as she lifted well above the expectations we had for her. She squatted 214lbs, bench pressed 110lbs and deadlifted 237lbs. She also received the best female teenage lifter and managed to break the American records for her division in all lifts.
Caden Gordon (90kg): This was Caden’s first meet as well, although he has lifted for a long time. Caden also won his division, and his lifts broke the existing state records while his squat was a new National Meet record. Caden lifted 429lbs in the squat, bench pressed 220lbs, and deadlifted 518lbs. He completed a 534lb pull but had a minor hitch at lockout and the lift was turned down (2-1).
Jayne Tang (110kg): Jayne’s goal in this meet was to weigh over 198lbs so she could set the womens 220lb Pit board records. After drinking copious amounts of water, she managed to “make” weight. Jayne has now established our ladies Pit Board Records of 165lbs in squat, 121lbs in bench press and 226lbs in the deadlift. Jayne won her division and also set the Indiana State Records for her age/weight.
Bob Edgin (100kg): Bob has been having a busy and successful summer. He just completed the Senior Games in Des Moines, Iowa where he set all new PR lifts and entered this meet where he set more PRs. Bob also managed to set all new Master National Meet records in this meet. Bob squatted 281lbs, bench pressed 220lbs and deadlifted 374lbs.

It is with great sadness to hear that we lost a great Pit veteran. Keith Winiger passed on Thursday in Alaska, where he had been with his children and grandchildren on a cruise. Keith was 100% Pit and 100% in love with his family. He was a familiar face in our gym and was always supportive and cheered for all our athletes. We are going to miss him dearly. If you listen closely, I think you will hear the angels singing Freebird. We will update with information on services for Keith. These photos were taken several days before his passing. ...
