The Pit's Hanz Hoag arrived back in the USA with some serious hardware! Hanz competed in Rome last Saturday at the WDFPF World competition. Despite competing at a venue where the temperature was 95 degrees F, and no fans or A/C, Hanz took 1st in raw and equipped bench for his age and weight class. In the Open class, he took 2nd place in raw and 3rd place in equipped. He also lost about 10 lbs in 1 day as well! A lot of dedication and hard work goes in to competing abroad. We are very proud of you, Hanz! ... See MoreSee Less
We'd like to introduce you to Bob Edgin! Bob is an outstanding powerlifter and positive, supporting member of The Pit. He drives from Illinois (1.25 hours one-way) to train at our gym. He decided in February 2024 that he had always wanted to powerlift and at 65 yrs old, he wondered what he was waiting for! After researching gyms that offer valuable powerlifting training, he decided to make the trip to The Pit (and we are thankful for that!).
Bob has competed in a few meets since he began training. Most recently, he competed in the Indiana State Games and achieved a bench of 210 lbs, squat of 275 lbs, and deadlift 383 lbs. He is focusing his training on the National Senior Games meet in August, in Des Moines, Iowa. He hopes to up each of those lifts by 10% or more.
Bob told us that what he loves about The Pit is the comradery among our members. Everyone is willing to help spot, encourage, etc., and no judgments are made! As Bob told us, "We all started some place in this lifting journey," and The Pit provides a great environment for the sport. He also appreciates the owners who feel the same about him.
We will enjoy continuing to cheer you on as you chase your lifting goals, Bob! ... See MoreSee Less
